Lietuvos bankas

The Bank of Lithuania is the central bank of the Republic of Lithuania. Our mission is to create benefits for society through a sound financial system and safe money. We do this in many ways.

Together with the central banks of the other euro area countries, the Bank of Lithuania participates in Eurosystem monetary policy decisions that are important for the whole of Europe. They determine the level of interest rates across the euro area and price developments. To make informed decisions, we closely monitor the country's economy, publish forecasts, conduct economic surveys, and assess the stability of Lithuania's financial system and potential risks.

Many of us use commercial banks and credit unions, insurance companies, payment, electronic money and other financial institutions. Bank of Lithuania specialists make sure they are sound, transparent and compliant with the law. When disputes arise between consumers and financial institutions, we resolve them impartially.

We are responsible for the stability of the country's financial system. We use risk mitigation tools to prevent credit bubbles that threaten the economy. Responsible lending regulations help to ensure that people borrow and lenders regulate responsibly and that the burden is not too high.

Every day, a proportion of electronic transfers are made by individuals or businesses through the payment systems we supervise.

We also put cash into circulation - euro banknotes and coins, which are held in the hands of almost everyone almost every day to pay for goods and services. We are responsible for Lithuania's gold reserves. We are also entrusted with the direct management of Lithuania's other financial assets. Our professionals invest it. We use the money we earn to cover our organisation's expenses and transfer most of our profits to the state budget.

We aim to be a progressive, proactive and open Eurosystem central bank.

The Bank of Lithuania is always on the lookout for responsible, honest, analytical, innovative and motivated people who want to do meaningful work. Full traineeship offers can be found at: https://karjera.lb.lt/pages/praktika-studentams). If you successfully complete your traineeship, you may be offered a job.

Why choose Bank of Lithuania: excellent learning opportunities, opportunity to apply expert knowledge, meaningful work for Lithuania, friendly and competent colleagues, and a high impact on Lithuania and the world.
